Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire East Wreath Laying Ceremony

The Grand Lodge of Scotland and Poppyscotland entered into a joint venture to commemorate the end of the Great War in 1918. This takes the form of visiting every Province the length and breadth of the country where Provinces and Lodges lay wreaths at local War Memorials. The Widows Sons Scotland agreed to facilitate this by riding to each location on their motorcycles and provide a visible link.

On Sunday 12 August, 2018 the second weekend of the Grand Lodge of Scotland/Poppy Scotland Tour of Remembrance took place.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire East were delighted to welcome to Perth, Brethren from the lodges within the Province, Grand Lodge, from Sister Provinces and also members of the Widow Sons Scotland motorcycle group.

Following very welcome refreshments at Lodge Scoon and Perth No. 3 the Brethren then made their way to Balhousie Castle, Perth, the home and museum of the Black Watch. A short but moving ceremony was conducted in very damp conditions. The Provincial Grand Lodge and the daughter lodges then laid wreaths at the memorial hedge, amongst the Poppy crosses that commemorate those of the Regiment that gave the supreme sacrifice.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire East are grateful to all the Lodge members who turned up from within the Province. A special thanks to Poppyscotland, Brother David Reid, Brother Gordon Michie and the Widow Sons Scotland motorcycle group.

A number of photographs from the ceremony are displayed below.
